Arrgggh Matey!

Rebecca has been really into pirates lately so it was a no-brainer to throw her a Pirate Princess third birthday extravaganza.  As soon as boxes started arriving with pirates and parrots it was all she talked about.  One day last week I could hear her talking in the monitor when she woke up from her nap so I turned up the volume and hear; "I so excited for my pirate party. I having a pirate party.  Arrrrgh matey!"  We have a video monitor so along with the "Arrrgh Matey" I can see her doing the squinty pirate wink.  It was priceless.

Possibly my favorite part was the treasure map invitations made by Kari Stroschein.  I casually gave her a few ideas and she ran with it.  The only thing that could have been better is if they had come with the edges already burned.  I spent all of nap time for 3 days burning them and each day I would go back inside with the God-awful stench of campfire ash.  This was the last one left that I didn't mail because I accidentally burned off the t in "at" and I refuse to burn another one just to scan.

Greeting her first guest in the driveway and telling me "My party's getting started!"

All the kids had to walk to plank to earn their pirate loot.

Goody bags with pirate hats, patches, telescopes and swords.  Yes, we had 20 kids running around our yard with foam swords.   Mommy was against the idea and lost but there were no incidents of violence (that I am aware of).

Auntie Erin throwing Rebecca off the plank.

Pirates!

A princess!

The cake!

I lost an hour of my life to rolled silverware.

The pirate ship!

The shark made it onto the deck.

Lots and lots of pirates!

Rob had a few Saturday's off in August so he made good use of his time constructing this 12 foot pirate ship for all the kids to play on.

We got very luck with the weather.  I stressed and stressed over the forecast for all of two weeks prior.  After the monsoon that came through during her party last year I was certain we couldn't have that horrible luck 2 years in row.  It rained for 4 days straight leading up to this years party.  It even rained, hard, all morning they day-of.  But, around noon the clouds broke and the Sun came out.

She still has to get down how old she is...

Such a cool party! My kiddo is still playing with his sword. He even took it to bed tonight!

Oh and I stole our picture for my blog. Thanks!
